“Know Your Rights” Trainings Now Available
Now that the new presidential administration is in place, I know that fear and anxiety are running high among many in our school community, especially our immigrant families. Our school is here to support you, and to provide the resources and reassurance to hopefully ease your concerns.
Please be sure your emergency contact information is up-to-date and on file at school. And please visit cps.edu/newadminguidance for information and resources pertaining to immigration, and to other groups that may be targeted by the new administration.

It is with pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to Nixon Elementary’s website. As principal, I am delighted to be leading this amazing school. In my 30 years of working at this school, I have seen tremendous improvements in core academic instruction, professional development, student academic growth, facility beautification, community engagement, and after school programming.
At Nixon School we value cultural diversity, the arts, and community engagement. For this reason, we offer students enrichment opportunities in various forms, such as performing and visual arts, academic assistance, sports, and cooking classes. Our intention is to offer students a variety of venues in which they can discover their own preferences and talents.
We are proud to bring our Dual Language program for qualifying students in Preschool to Fifth Grade. We want to show our students that their language is of great value; moreover, being biliterate opens the doors for their future college and careers.
I am proud of my inviting school climate. I encourage you to visit our school, meet our joyous and welcoming personnel, see our students engaged in their classrooms, and learn more about what Nixon offers. Call for a tour today!
Kind Regards,
Diana Gomez Rodriguez
